The Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Vojvodina (UPIDIV) is a non-governmental and non-profit association founded for the purpose of obtaining the goals through the advancement and development of professional fine arts in the sphere of applied arts and design. A respected professional organization, UPIDIV is currently home to 434 active applied arts artists and designers from across Vojvodina. As a social organization of significance, UPIDIV has the status of an eminent cultural association of the Republic of Serbia. Accordingly, it is responsible for the question of the status of freelance artists, as assigned to it by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The genesis of UPIDIV can be tracked through several phases mirroring social and economic changes in the country. In 1953, applied artists of Novi Sad for the first time in history tried to unite and collectively defend their artistic and social interests and goals. The same year, artists of Serbia established their own association – ULUPUS. They started approving membership for the artists from Vojvodina. In 1957, sixteen prominent artists -- previously approved as members -- formed a Vojvodinian ULUPUS spinoff. The Association gained autonomy in 1964, when at the III Congress of Yugoslav Applied Arts Artists Council held in Ljubljana it was decided that the Association of Applied Arts Artists of Vojvodina be established. In 1971, the Association changed its name into the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Vojvodina (UPIDIV).

The UPIDIV members are organized through work in numerous sections: interior architecture and design; decorative painting; decorative plastic; photo design; graphic design; illustration; comics; caricature; landscape architecture; industrial design; costume design; ceramic; conservation and restoration; scenography; tapestry; contemporary fashion; textile; theory of fine arts, applied arts, and design; sculpture; and web design. Since its foundation, UPIDIV has been copiously hosting exhibitions and publishing diligently. At the UPIDIV gallery Forma in the center of Novi Sad, at 3 Ilije Ognjanovica St., there have been almost 800 exhibitions. It has also organized approximately 50 major exhibition evens in the country and abroad. The most significant among those was the biennial FORMA, which was launched in 1965. To date, it has been the greatest display of the works of applied arts and design in the Province. In addition, UPIDIV has had a fruitful, decades-long publishing history featuring nearly 1000 published works (exhibition catalogs, posters, invitation cards, bulletins, jubilee and scientific monographs). It has been actively collaborating with national cultural institutions (museums, galleries, libraries, archives) and akin organizations in the realm of culture and arts. It is an active contributor to the independent art scene, as well.
